The case, titled Rajasthan school volunteers attacked, has brought both the state of government schools in Rajasthan and the political debate to the fore. According to reports, volunteers from the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) had visited the government school to see the situation. During this time, an argument broke out with the locals and the matter escalated to a fight. The CJP alleged that the volunteers were attacked and vehicle windows were smashed. However, some villagers denied the allegations, saying outsiders were trying to give a political color to the school’s affairs.
Controversy started with school inspections in Rajasthan
This phenomenon cannot be seen alone. The CJP recently announced the launch of โSchool Thik Karoโ campaign on the state of government schools in Rajasthan. According to Ashutosh Ranka, national spokesperson of the organisation, complaints were received from nine districts of Rajasthan for inspection of poor and unsafe schools. The purpose of the campaign was to seek answers from the administration on necessary repairs, security and infrastructure in schools.
Hours after the campaign was announced, the Rajasthan Education Department issued a directive banning outsiders from entering the school premises. Outsiders can no longer enter the school without the permission of the principal or head of school. Permission was also made mandatory for photos, videos, interviews and live streaming.
What was the villagerโs objection?

Locals said the problems of the school could be solved at the village level. According to available details, about Rs 12 lakh was said to have been sanctioned for improvement of the school. The villagers wanted the repairs to be done locally and not to be disrupted by outside political organizations making it an issue.
On the other hand, the CJP alleged that its workers were attacked while trying to see the poor condition of the school and raise the issue before the public. The organization has accused people affiliated with the BJP, but the locals deny the political connection. The CJP also questioned the role of police action.
Real question in Rajasthan school volunteers attacked case

Rajasthan school volunteers attacked Disputes are no longer limited to assaults or damage to vehicles. The real question is how to question the poor infrastructure of government schools. If money is approved for school repairs, when and how will it be used? How is the work being monitored by the local administration? The answer to this question is important for the public.
The launch of the CJP campaign in Rajasthan has intensified the public debate on the state of government schools. In Alwar too, the organization had raised the issue of dilapidated roofs of government schools and problems related to students reaching schools. Lack of roads, bridges, buildings and basic facilities in rural areas can affect the learning of students.

The controversy in Rajasthan shows that the issue of school reforms has now become a subject of debate among local administrations, rural people and political and social groups. Only an independent investigation into the political allegations made in the incident can clarify the real motive behind the attack. Until then, the claims of each party must be treated as allegations.
