Venezuela 7.5 Magnitude Earthquake Triggers Massive Destruction

Venezuela 7.5 Magnitude Earthquake shocks the nation after twin quakes hit near Yaracuy. Dozens dead, hundreds injured, and massive destruction reported.

The terrible disaster, known as the Venezuela 7.5 Magnitude Earthquake, has shaken the whole of Venezuela. On the evening of June 24, 2026, two consecutive powerful earthquakes struck the northern part of the country. The first tremor was a 7.2 magnitude, while only 39 seconds later a 7.5 main quake struck. According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the main quake was about 10 kilometers deep, which made it even more devastating.

The epicenter of the quake was around the state of Yarakuy, but the shock was felt in several states, including the capital Caracas. Initial reports said at least 32 people had been killed and more than 700 injured. Several multistory buildings collapsed, streets were filled with debris, and thousands of people were left homeless.

Relief and rescue teams are constantly removing the debris. According to the local administration, electricity, water and communication services have been disrupted in many areas. Caracas’ major international airport has also been closed due to damage. Rescuers are searching for people trapped in the rubble and children have been pulled alive from some locations. Experts believe the damage was too severe due to the shallow quake. More than 20 aftershocks have been recorded since the quake, leaving people still living in fear.

Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez has declared a state of emergency. Schools, public activities and many government services have been temporarily suspended. Internationally, the United States, Mexico, Qatar and many other countries have offered help. Several agencies, including the United Nations, are preparing to send relief supplies. Experts are warning that the death toll could still rise as thousands are still reported missing.

Venezuela 7.5 Magnitude Earthquake

The event is considered one of the most powerful earthquakes in Venezuela in more than 100 years. Scientists call this a “double earthquake,” where two earthquakes of nearly equal strength occur very shortly apart. The Venezuela 7.5 Magnitude Earthquake is no longer just a natural disaster, but a humanitarian crisis for millions of people. The relief operation continues and the eyes of the entire world are now focused on Venezuela.
