When Shri Sajjan Singh Verma, Chairman, SIR Monitoring Committee, Pradesh Congress, visited village Jaleria in Sonkachch Assembly constituency of Dewas district, it was not just a coincidental visit. The visit is seen as a vital link in the Congress’ upcoming election preparations and strategy.
When Verma reached the village, he first met the BLO. They discussed every littleβbig thing about the voter list. The issue was whether the names of new voters were being added or whether the names of those whose names had been deleted by mistake were being corrected. Some booths were carefully checked for deficiencies, misspellings of names, missing entire family names. The Congress now wants there to be no mistake at the booth, as it suffered a lot from similar mistakes in the last elections.
The Sonkachch area is like half a town and half a village. The electoral environment here is always a bit fragile type. Even small things make a big impact. That is why Verma’s visit is being considered as a very important step to know the real situation in the village, meet the cadres, and understand where the strength of the organization is weak.
During the meeting, Verma also met the BLA and other Congress workers. He clearly tells people not to leave the campaign at the booths halfβdone, but to do their best to complete it. Elections are actually won at the booth. The stronger the booth, the more likely to win. Explaining this, Verma encouraged the workers, βThis time, take over the booths, the rest of the fight will be easier.β
Politically, the visit shows that the Congress is now changing its ways. In the last elections, the Congress lost several seats by very few votes. One of the biggest reasons for this was the poor preparation at the booth. Now the party is sending its leaders directly to the villages to see what the situation really is. It is clear that the Congress is now building a strong network like the BJP’s booth model.
In a place like Jaleria village, local issues make a big impact. Whether the roads are good, whether the water is available, how the farmers are doing with their crops, whether electricity is reaching every household, whether the youth are getting employment β all these issues have a direct impact on the minds of the voters. When Verma visited villages, he understood these issues closely. When the leader himself sees the village environment, the electoral strategy also becomes grounded.
This entire Congress campaign is pointing to the fact that the party will no longer rely solely on big speeches, posters, or rallies. Now Congress wants to focus on data, voter lists, cadre networks, and booth-by-booth preparations. This means that the party is now in the mood to work with the right strategy at every booth.
Finally, it is clear that the Congress is now becoming active on the ground. Strengthening the organisation, adding cadres, and going to every village to see the real picture β all these things can help the Congress in the upcoming elections. If the booth becomes stronger, the electoral battle becomes more than half easier.
