In a significant move reflecting India’s united stand against cross-border terrorism, senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament Dr. Shashi Tharoor has been chosen to lead an all-party parliamentary delegation to five major world capitals. The announcement, made by the Government of India, is seen as part of a broader diplomatic campaign under the banner of “Operation Sindoor.”

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Shashi Tharoor expressed his gratitude and sense of duty, stating, “When national interest is involved, and my services are required, I will not be found wanting. Jai Hind!”
According to an official press release by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), dated 17 May 2025, these delegations are a strategic part of India’s efforts to engage key partner nations and members of the United Nations Security Council. The aim is to present a unified voice on India’s stance against terrorism and to underline the country’s zero-tolerance policy.
The delegation will include representatives from various political parties, showcasing a rare display of political consensus. Seven such delegations are scheduled to visit different countries, each led by prominent Members of Parliament. Among them are:
- Shashi Tharoor (Indian National Congress)
- Ravi Shankar Prasad (Bharatiya Janata Party)
- Sanjay Kumar Jha (Janata Dal-United)

The government has emphasized that these delegations will serve to communicate India’s resolute stand on terrorism, and highlight its role as a responsible global partner.
This development also reflects India’s proactive shift in foreign policy, where bipartisan cooperation is being deployed to strengthen its position on international platforms. It sends a clear message to the world that the fight against terrorism is not a partisan issue but a national cause.
As the global community continues to grapple with rising threats of extremism and instability, India’s diplomatic outreach through Operation Sindoor could mark a new chapter in international counter-terrorism cooperation.
