Peaceful Eid Prayers in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area were conducted completely peacefully this year, despite already tense situations in the same area. Early in the morning, people reached the Eidgah and offered prayers, where a large number of police forces were deployed for security. There were no reports of major fights or violence due to tight police security.
In fact, tension had risen in the area since an incident during Holi on March Tarun Kumar, 26, was killed in the incident. According to information, a minor dispute while playing Holi gradually escalated into a mob attack, which later proved fatal. The incident sparked anger among locals and protests in several places.
Police have so far arrested 14 people in the case, including two minors. Locals took to the streets demanding justice and blocked roads in some places. Meanwhile, the administration and the government continued to appeal for peace.
Peaceful Eid Prayers, where there is usually an atmosphere of joy and celebration, this time there was a little simplicity and caution. People hugged each other and wished each other Eid, but the effects of tension were clearly visible on their faces.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bhardwaj also appealed to the people to maintain peace. However, there were protests in some places and crowds chanted slogans. Despite all this, no major incidents occurred due to the activities of the police and administration.
The Delhi High Court had earlier directed tight security arrangements in view of the seriousness of the case. Police also detained some people who were trying to disrupt the atmosphere.

Overall, Eid was spent in Uttam Nagar this year with a message of peace and brotherhood. This incident shows that even in difficult circumstances, if people and administration work together, peace can be maintained in society.
