INS Aridhaman – India’s third nuclear powered submarine

Another big and historic news is coming out of the Indian Ocean. The country's nuclear power is now going to become even stronger. INS Aridhaman is now set to join the Indian Navy in April–May 2026, and the news is of great strategic significance.

Built in Visakhapatnam, INS Aridhaman, the 7,000-tonne heavy-duty submarine is the largest example of the country’s self-reliant defense force. Larsen & Toubro have been instrumental in its creation.

The submarine is equipped with an 83-megawatt advanced nuclear reactor, which gives it the ability to operate underwater for months without coming to the surface. It can silently approach enemy territory – and most importantly, without the enemy even noticing.

Missile Strength – Ability to break the enemy’s heart

INS Aridhaman can deploy 24 K-15 missiles or 8 long-range K-4 missiles simultaneously.

  • K-15 – Approx 750 km range
  • K-4 – capable of hitting about 3,500 km

This means clearly – India can now respond nuclearly even from the depths of the sea. This is called “Second-Strike Capability” – that is, even if the enemy attacks first, India will not remain silent.

Already strong fleet – now more dangerous

Before INS Aridhaman, India had:

  • INS Arihant (in service since 2016)
  • INS Arighat (active since 2024)

Now, with the addition of INS Aridhaman , India’s naval nuclear power will be further strengthened. They operate under the Strategic Forces Command, which oversees the country’s nuclear security.

🇮🇳 Self-reliant India is the real strength

In December 2025, Indian Navy Chief D K Tripathi has clearly indicated that the final test was successful and the submarine will be in service in early

It is not just one submarine, it is a symbol of India’s technological self-sufficiency, defense research, and global strategic strength.

Today, when the security situation in Asia is changing rapidly, the inclusion of INS Aridhaman could prove to be a game-changer for India.

The breaking message is clear:

From the depths of the sea, India’s response has now become even more deadly.
If the enemy thinks that he will escape by attacking, then the end of that thinking is certain.

INS Aridhaman – Name is enough.
