On Sunday morning, Singapore-flagged ship Pyxis Pioneer arrived in India from Texas carrying 16,714 tonnes of LPG for Aegis Logistics, while some time ago a ship named Aqua Titan was arriving in India carrying 96,000 tonnes of Russian Urals crude oil for Mangalore Refinery. The continuous arrival of these two ships makes it clear that India should now reduce its dependence on the Middle East and strengthen its energy supply from new sources.

Currently, India LPG Supply Crisis due to Iran conflict, there is uncertainty in oil supply from the Middle East. This is why India is rapidly changing its import strategy. LPG imports from America are increasing, while cheap crude oil is being continuously purchased from Russia. Today, Russia’s share in India’s total crude oil imports has reached above 40%, which shows that India is working on energy diversification in a strategic manner.

Oil LPG from Pyxis Pioneer is very important especially for domestic use. The demand for LPG is increasing rapidly in India, especially in urban areas. Meanwhile, due to increase in cylinder prices, the pressure on common people and small businesses has increased. Many hotel owners in Karnataka are now reducing their menu to reduce costs. Some hotels even reduce the quantity of food, so that the expenses remain under control.

Oil from Aqua Titan proved to be a big support for Russian Urals crude, Mangalore Refinery. This will help in reducing India’s refining cost due to cheaper crude. At the same time, the impact of fluctuations in oil prices in the global market also had less impact on India. According to experts, if such supplies continue, India could be saved from inflationary pressure to some extent.

Government officials also believe that e-shipments will help bring stability to the domestic market. Especially when uncertainty increases in the international market. Given the uncertainty regarding when the situation in the Middle East will stabilize, India’s strategy to establish alternative supply chains is being viewed as a step in the right direction.
