Why ICE Officers Wear Masks: Madison Sheahan Defends Amid VISIBLE Act Uproar

ICE Officers Wear Masks for protection, not secrecy โ€” says Deputy Director Madison Sheahan as the VISIBLE Act sparks political debate. She explains how unmasking officers puts their lives at risk while they simply enforce U.S. immigration law.

Politics has heated up over the โ€œVISIBLE Actโ€ (Visibility and Identification for Support of Enforcement and Law) recently introduced in America. The purpose of this law is that ICE Officers Wear Masks officers should no longer work by hiding their identities.

That means they should not use a mask or any cloth to cover their face. But ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) Deputy Director Madison Sheehan has responded sharply to this demand.

Democrats stand on the side of criminals โ€“ Sheehan alleges

Deputy Director Madison Sheehan clearly stated,

โ€œICE officers cover their faces because the Democrat Party continues to stand on the side of criminals and put our officers in danger.โ€

According to him, when the identities of officers are revealed, their families receive threats and their personal lives are in danger. In such a situation, wearing a mask is a means of protection, not a conspiracy.

ICE officers are enforcing the law, no personal agenda

Madison Sheehan also clarified that ICE officers are not doing any politics, they are just enforcing the laws that the US Parliament has already passed.

โ€œThey are just enforcing existing U.S. immigration laws โ€” no one is doing anything of their own accord.โ€

This means that if anyone has a problem with these laws, the solution is not attacking officers, but changing the law.

Why oppose the VISIBLE Act?

The co-proponents of the โ€œVISIBLE Actโ€ want all ICE officers to work in public with their uniforms and faces fully exposed. The argument of transparency is being given behind this. But officials and many Republican leaders believe this would put officers’ lives at risk.
