Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s of India has now set a new record in the history of the country. He is now the longest serving elected leader, having been in power for a total of 8,931 days. The figure was added when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat (2001–2014) and Prime Minister (2014 to date).

The record was previously held by Pawan Kumar Chamling, who was the Chief Minister of Sikkim for 8,930 days. But now Modi has made history by giving just one day more service.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrated the achievement very loudly. Party leaders posted on social media praising Modi’s strong connection with the people and continuous service spirit. They say India is changing rapidly under Modi’s leadership.

On the other hand, the Opposition, especially the Indian National Congress (Congress), questioned the record. They allege that it is all part of the “cult of personality” Also, they say that Modi is not holding open press conferences, which is not the right sign for democracy.

According to media reports, the entire figure is believed to be accurate on the basis of public records. This means that Modi has indeed become the longest serving leader in terms of numbers.
